The story
The egg opens. A small caterpillar meets the leaf beneath her and begins to eat. In time, she outgrows one skin, then another. These stages of growth are her instars: change made possible by nourishment and the willingness to shed what has become too small.
Along the grove’s branches, the story gathers movement. You try, adjust, and try again. Some days the brave thing is a first draft; some days it is asking for help or returning after a pause.
We pair Instar with the waxing Moon, whose growing light gives this chapter its rhythm. Feed what matters. Leave room to change your approach. You are allowed to grow before you know exactly what you are becoming.
Scent & symbolism
Sweet orange and lemon bring brightness, peppermint adds a cool green edge, and tonka settles the blend into warm sweetness.
Mint, dandelion, and ginkgo carry our themes of attention, resilience, and remembering what matters. Fluorite represents a little order, citrine encouragement, and tiger’s eye the courage to try. Together, they give this chapter the feeling of a first leaf within reach.

Choose the waxing Moon to work with building energy: nourishment, repetition, and growing confidence. Choose Instar at any other time when your intention needs movement. Your next step does not have to wait for a particular night.
Follow the Moon, or follow the season you are living. In our practice, working with a matching lunar phase heightens the intention by inviting that phase’s particular energy: beginning, growth, illumination, release, or rest. Lunar timing is an invitation, never a requirement.
Candle care
Remove the plantable label band, dried botanicals, and decorative stones before lighting. Keep the wax pool clear. If decorations cannot be removed, do not light the candle; contact me for help.
Trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch before lighting. Burn upright on a stable, heat-safe plate, away from drafts, children, pets, and anything that can catch fire. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep papers, tarot cards, and other objects at least 12 inches from the flame. Do not move a burning candle or pour its hot wax. Extinguish it if it smokes, flickers repeatedly, or has an unusually tall flame; let it cool before checking the wick or removing debris. Follow the candle’s care label for burn sessions and when to discontinue use.
